I remember summer camp. It freaked me out, I was 8 or 9 and my parents dropped me off, I got on a bus and wound up at Camp Waskowitz near North Bend. I had no idea what to expect but ultimately had a good time there. The next camp I went to was when I was in junior high, Camp Orkila on Orcas Island. It was good and I did things there that I never would have experienced otherwise.

But if you are an adult, where can you go to get the camp experience without the kids?  I have some ideas for you.

Camp Rahh,

is Seattle's only all-inclusive summer camp for adults. They offer meditation, yoga, dance, art, creative writing, kayaking, cooking classes, and more

 Camp No Councilors,

You will find them in New York and LA. It looks like fun if you are in the 21 to 35 age bracket.

Darwood Outfitting

You can create your own adult camp experience on horseback in the north cascades riding to one of their alpine base camps. Leave the gourmet cooking, world-class sightseeing, and campfire entertainment to them.

My personal favorite,

The Sunbanks Music Festival's

This year there are four festivals to choose from. The Sunbanks Blues and roots festivals in the spring and the fall with Blues, R & B, and a little Rockabilly just for fun. In the summer there is the Sunbanks Country festival with a mix of country and Americana. And new this year will be the Sunbanks Classic Rock Festival September 14th - 17th.

It’s 21 and older, Sunbanks is always a great “Hang” and the music is always good. I have been going for years now and there is always at least one band or artist there that I have never heard of that blows me away.
